Over the years, while I wanted to do a variety of things, writing's been the only constant.
Apollo 11 landed on the moon, and I wanted to be an astronaut. I vaguely remember writing about it. Later, I wanted to be a psychiatrist, a marine biologist, a truck driver, a sound engineer, a band director, and a hospital administrator. Through it all, I continued writing stories.
While I pursued other interests, my true passions—writing and music—waited patiently for my attention. Today, I'm in my Element, what Ken Robinson describes as "the place where the things we love to do and the things we are good at come together."  My head was once full of grand but ill-suited career choices, and I kept writing.  I learned that all those other avenues simply fed my imagination and prepared me for what I was meant to do.
