The
Corporal of
Loupeigne
A forthcoming novel by Ted Olson
The Corporal of Loupeigne is Alan Rockwell Porter’s final confession. During an artillery barrage on the Western Front in the summer of 1918, Alan spares the life of a German corporal. But decades later, as Germany methodically executes its Lebensraum and Europe descends toward another world war, Alan becomes convinced the soldier he faced in France is now the Nazi Fuhrer. When the world learns the full extent of the Nazi persecution of Europe’s Jews, Alan is devastated. His world is upended. He begins a search for the truth that will take him to a widow’s home and hospital room in Munich and a music hall in Red Bank, New Jersey, where he is adored by Ruth Wainkranc, a survivor of the Krakow Ghetto.
